Airport-area CID effort underway in Clayton

Business owners on the Clayton County side of the Atlanta airport said Wednesday they are working to establish a self-taxing group to address infrastructure and other community improvement efforts.

Developers including Ackerman & Co. and OA Development are leading an effort to form the Airport South Community Improvement District (CID). A CID levies an additional tax on business properties and uses those funds to leverage other funding for infrastructure and other community improvement goals.

CIDs are prominent across the northern suburbs such as Central Perimeter, where they have been instrumental in helping launch new transportation projects.
